A 45-year-old lady has been killed in an alligator attack on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.
Police answered to stories of a lady being attacked in a lodge lagoon on Monday morning.
The sufferer, named as native resident Cassandra Cline, died on the scene after being pulled from the water.
Witnesses stated she used to be attacked after making an attempt to give protection to her puppy dog from the 8ft (2.4m) alligator. The dog used to be reportedly unhurt in the incident.
