Art expresses and conjures up deep human feelings, which makes it in detail attached to spirituality. It is sensible, then, for LDS artists to discover their religion thru their creativity.

In 2017, such hyperlinks induced a gaggle of Latter-day Saints in New York City to release the Mormon Arts Center Festival, which LDS author Terryl Givens known as “a seminal event in Mormonism’s coming of age artistically.”

A 12 months later, the festival has grown larger and much more world, says one of the organizers, Richard L. Bushman, the famed Mormon pupil and emeritus historical past professor at Columbia.

Before the competition will get underway on June 28, Bushman explains why a rigorous look at Mormon arts is an important to the Utah-based religion.
