WEST JORDAN — A former Real Salt Lake player accused of getting sex with a 15-year-old woman has been sentenced to jail.
A pass judgement on ordered Ricardo Velazco, 24, to serve 45 days in jail and two years probation on Thursday, postponing a $2,500 nice and a yearlong jail sentence.
In November, Velazco pleaded in charge to a discounted fee of sexual battery, a category A misdemeanor, in third District Court. He was once in the beginning charged with illegal sexual job with a minor, a third-degree criminal punishable via up to 5 years in jail.
Charging paperwork allege that Velazco, who was once 23 on the time, had sex with the teen in Draper on May 20.
His lawyer, Greg Skordas, has stated Velazco met the lady in a bar, was once led to consider she was once 18 years outdated and was once dissatisfied when he realized she was once no longer of age.
Velazco was once suspended from the crew and from Major League Soccer when he was once charged in August. RSL has stated additional choices about his standing with the crew can be made after the case is adjudicated.
He was once no longer indexed at the roster on RSL’s web site as of Monday however gave the impression on that of El Salvador’s Isidro Metapán.
Velazco, of Casa Grande, Arizona, signed with RSL on Sept. 6, 2016, after two seasons with the Real Monarchs.
