PROVO — Evacuations at a number of restaurants, companies and a close-by hotel had been lifted after a gas leak in downtown Provo Wednesday.

The gas leak took place close to Freedom Boulevard and Center Street, in step with Provo Fire Battalion Chief Lynn Schofield. Provo hearth officers closed Center Street from 300 West to 100 North and Freedom Boulevard from 100 North to 100 South for approximately 3 hours within the morning.

All roads reopened about 2 p.m. with the exception of westbound Center Street, Schofield mentioned. All roads in downtown Provo had been reopened via four:30 p.m., Provo police officers reported on Twitter.

Authorities evacuated a dozen other people from the construction in entrance of the gas leak, in addition to a number of restaurants, and the Marriott Hotel at 101 W. 100 North.

“Occasionally, you get one of these (gas leaks) that goes bad, and when it goes bad, it goes really bad,” Schofield defined. “We appreciate people’s cooperation.”

Dominion Energy and Questar Gas are operating to mend the leak. The reason behind the leak has now not but been launched. No accidents had been reported.
