From dark comedies to silly sitcoms, here’s what made the list this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards.
The Emmy Awards are still two months away, but already the ceremony has suffered an embarrassing faux pas: They forgot to include a nominee. And then they misidentified the episode nominated.
Late Thursday, the Television Academy confirmed that the “Big Bang Theory” was inadvertently omitted from the best directing in a comedy series category. The episode is “The Bow Tie Asymmetry” (not “The Bow Tie Symmetry,” as the release originally said). It’s about Amy and Sheldon’s wedding and it’s directed by Mark Cendrowski.
It’s just the latest fail for a major award ceremony. Here are some other mistakes we’ve seen during nomination and winner announcements in recent years.
The Oscar went to the wrong film.
This goes down as the biggest awards flub ever. At the 2017 Academy Awards Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway introduced the Best Picture envelope to “La La Land,” the filmmakers started to simply accept the award, after which learned that the honour was intended to visit “Moonlight.”
The fallacious Miss Universe was topped.
In December 2015, host Steve Harvey accidentally named Miss Colombia the winner of the Miss Universe competition. The crown needed to be taken off of her head — she was in reality the runner-up. Miss Philippines was the actual winner.
“Dick Poop” was nominated for an Oscar.
2015 was a large yr for misreading cue playing cards. In January of that yr, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Cheryl Boone Isaacs mispronounced Oscar-nominated cinematographer Dick Pope’s identify, calling him “Dick Poop.”
“Adele Dazeem” was referred to as to the degree.
John Travolta butchered Idina Menzel’s name as he offered her to the Oscar degree in 2014 to sing “Let It Go” from “Frozen.”
Will there be extra award display fails at this yr’s Emmys? We’ll in finding out when the display airs are living from Los Angeles on Sept. 17.
